NOVA Eroica California is an international amateur cycling event that takes place mainly on white gravel roads and fosters team spirit.
ART. 1 - DATE and PLACE
Nova Eroica California will take place on Saturday 26 September 2020 in Cambria, California, USA.
ART. 2 – ROUTES and BICYCLES
Nova Eroica is a cycling race for ROAD RACING, CYCLOCROSS and GRAVEL BICYCLES with carbon, steel, titanium or aluminium frames. Road-racing bicycles must be drop bar and Gravel bikes must have at least 28 mm tyres.
Route cover both white and asphalt roads and contain “relaxed pace group segments” and special timed sections, as described below.
There are 2 routes:
· The long route presents a 97-mile adventure built for the cyclist lured by beauty of fatigue.
· Nova’s new shorter 72-mile option is, by all standards, still a formidable journey.
ART. 3 – STARTING ORDER
· GROUP “A” Ciclo Club Eroica, guests and cyclists riding Gravel and Cyclocross bikes
· GROUP “B” Teams of at least 4 cyclists
· GROUP “C” Cyclists riding modern road racing bicycles
The FINAL RACE will have a single starting grid.
ART. 4 – PARTICIPATION
NOVA Eroica is open to anybody of either sex who is over 16 years of age.
Both teams and individuals may participate but the NOVA Eroica philosophy privileges team spirit.
ART. 5 – REGISTRATION METHODS AND FEE
It is possible to register directly on the www.eroicacalifornia.com website.
Each participant must register using the “MY EROICA” system. Once registered, each user must choose a username and password, which will be needed to access “MY EROICA” and enter the event.
The registration fee, irrespective of the amount paid, includes:
· RACE PACK with event gifts and souvenirs;
· RACE NUMBER to be attached to your jersey and bicycle;
· EROICA MAP with details of the routes, food stops;
· FOOD STOPS in varying numbers according to the length of the route chosen;
· PRIZE at the finish line;
· PASTA PARTY at the end of the event;
ART. 6 – COLLECTION OF RACE PACK AND NUMBER
In Cambria, RACE PACKS and NUMBERS will be distributed before the event, at the following times:
‐ Friday 3 April 2020, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm;
‐ Saturday 4 April 2020, from 7:30am to 5:00pm;
‐ Sunday 5 April 2020, from 05:30am to 08:30am.
In order to pick up your RACE PACK and NUMBER, it is mandatory to present:
• A valid form of I.D.
ART. 7 – SUBSTITUTIONS OR CANCELLATIONS
Cyclists enrolled in the 2020 Eroica California event who are forfeiting their participation will not be allowed to transfer their registration or transfer for the following edition of the event.
No refund will be issued.
1) Sudden illness/Medical emergencies: You must submit a note from your physician to be considered for a refund.
2) Military duty calls: We must receive an official notice/proof to be considered for a refund.

ART. 8 – TIMES and TIMETABLE
The timetable will be published on the www.eroicacalifornia.com website.
At the start and finish of each Special TIMED section, the single times of each athlete will be recorded by means of a CHIP.
ART. 9 – START
Starting times will be as follows:
· 08:00 – from Cambria, CA
· 09:30 – from Cayucos, CA
Riders will warm-up after an 08:00 am start as they heard 14 miles south to the seaside village of Cayucos. After a brief but required stop where coffee and breakfast snacks await, the course opens with an official 09:30 am start as riders head toward the 10 km ascent up the strada bianche of Santa Rita Creek road.
Route will be signposted and can be consulted on the www.eroicacalifornia.com website on the ‘routes’ page.
ART. 10 – PUBLICATION of RANKING
At the end of the race, the ranking of the special timed sections for individuals will be calculated and published.
ART. 11 – MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
Medical assistance includes the presence of ambulances with doctors and paramedics.
ART. 12 – MECHANICAL ASSISTANCE
Any type of assistance by private vehicles following the race is strictly forbidden. The Organisation guarantees mechanical assistance at each food stop. The Organisation will provide mechanical assistance during the race but cannot guarantee complete cover for all athletes; it is therefore recommended that you carry a repair kit for punctures and breakdowns.
ART. 13 – COMPLAINTS AND INFORMATION
Any complaints must be sent exclusively by email to the Organisation at [email protected] within 5 days of publication of the list of finishers.
If, for reasons of force majeure, the event does not take place, the registration fee will not be reimbursed but will be considered valid for the following edition.
ART. 14 - VARIATIONS
The Organisation reserves the right to make changes to the regulations at any time. The Eroica California websites are the only official source of information regarding the event. Therefore, all official communications will be made exclusively through these channels.
ART. 15 – RIGHTS AND RESPONSABILITIES OF CYCLISTS
Cyclists are obliged to fix the race number to the handlebars and to the back of the saddle in a visible way. They must also wear the race number provided by the organisers on the back of their jerseys. These numbers may not be modified or altered in any way.
It is obligatory to use an approved rigid helmet and keep it fastened for the duration of the race. Riders are obliged to respect the rules of the road.
ART. 16 – DISQUALIFICATION
Disqualification lasting 2 years will apply in the following cases:
· Unauthorised deviations from the route;
· Abusive or offensive behaviour towards members of the organisation;
· Lack of respect for the environment, such as littering in non-designated areas, outside food stops and checkpoints.
In serious cases, such as participating with another rider’s RACE NUMBER and unauthorised transfer of one’s registration, disqualification may be for life, subject to the incontestable judgement of the organisers.
We appeal to the civic duty of all participants to keep the routes and locality clean and litter-free.
If any rider is disqualified during the course of the year, this may lead to exclusion from the starting list at any moment and at the Organisation’s incontestable judgement.
The use of bicycles equipped with any kind of motor or mechanical assistance, is strictly forbidden, at risk of disqualification or exclusion.
ART. 17 – CANCELLATION
In the event of cancelation of the 2020 Eroica California event due to severe weather conditions, acts of God, war, terrorism, disaster, earthquake, government regulation and/or for economic/financial reasons or other or uncontrollable circumstances; the registration fee shall be applied to the 2021 Eroica California event, only, and shall be non-refundable and non-transferable.
ART. 18 – PROCESSING AND REGISTRATION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
The processing and registration of personal information will be carried out by the following two companies:

The personal information of all participants will be processed and registered according to the terms of Italian privacy law no. 196 dated 30/06/2003 and European Union Regulation 2017/679 (GDPR/18).
