Der Zauber der Erschöpfung und die Lust am Wagnis

"El Furlan de Fero" - The Docufilm on Ottavio Bottecchia

The XXVII edition of L’Eroica will be a memorable event, enriched with unique initiatives celebrating key milestones in the history of cycling and communication in Italy.

Thanks to a partnership with RAI, this year will feature an exclusive route called “One Hundred Years of Radio”. This route will be dedicated to celebrating 100 years of radio history in Italy, highlighting the crucial role that RAI has played and continues to play in spreading culture and information across the country.

But 2024 also marks another significant anniversary: 100 years since the first Italian victory at the Tour de France. The protagonist of this incredible feat was Ottavio Bottecchia, a relatively unknown cyclist at the time, who, at 28 years old, triumphed in the most famous and challenging stage race in the world in 1924, repeating the victory the following year in 1925.

To honor this cycling hero, the docufilm "El Furlan De Fero" curated by journalist Franco Bortuzzo will be screened. This documentary recounts Bottecchia's sporting and personal life through the testimonies of historians, journalists, writers, and relatives. The 60-minute screening will be in Italian, with English subtitles, to engage the international cyclists participating in L’Eroica.
