We were honoured and delighted to receive the invitation from the European Parliament, represented by President Roberta Metsola and all the members across Europe.
We are especially grateful to Vice-President Roberts Zile, who has personally experienced the atmosphere and values of our events in Tuscany and wanted to share his enthusiasm with his colleagues and friends here in Brussels. He realized the potential of our events to communicate our common values and goals: sustainability, the conservation and protection of the environment and particularly of the white gravel roads in Tuscany, which are natural cycle paths.
The original philosophy of L’Eroica is sustainable: we use old bicycles, second hand wool jerseys, fabric bib numbers, and we ride mostly on unpaved roads. Everything is reused and recycled, and no external energy source is needed to power our vehicles – we use our legs! And at L’Eroica, we are unbeatable at replenishing the energy spent on the pedals, with a large variety of wholesome local foods that are distributed at refreshment points during the events.
L'Eroica, with its many activities, caters to everyone. We speak to enthusiasts all over the world, wonderful people for whom cycling is a way of life. We hope that this exhibit will be the first of many initiatives and that we can work together to identify and discover unpaved white roads all over Europe and create a network of alternative routes that will allow cyclists to enjoy their passion in beautiful countryside, in a safe and sustainable way.
It is an honour to be here in Brussels and we would be delighted to welcome you to Tuscany, to the province of Siena, to experience one of our 2023 events firsthand:
28 May: Eroica Montalcino
24 June: NOVA Eroica Buonconvento
30 September – 1 October: L’Eroica, Gaiole in Chianti
