MIDDLE ROUTE ODORIKO
The Middle Route, a key player in Eroica Japan, begins on the Tensho Road, the setting for the masterpiece by Yasunari Kawabata, 'Izu no Odoriko' (The Dancing Girl of Izu). After conquering the Tensho Pass, the journey continues to the loop bridge of 'Kawazu Nanadaru' and the charming Matsuzaki town in the nostalgic Kamo region. Stroll through the streets of Matsuzaki, lined with old homes featuring namako walls, and reminisce about the lively past while heading towards the grand vistas of the West Izu Skyline. With a total distance of 144 km, this route offers a substantial course, but ample aid stations and high hospitality ensure robust support for riders. To allow riders to leisurely enjoy the famous sights of Izu, the departure is set at 5 am, and the route closure extends until sunset (around 7 pm), providing plenty of time. Reflect on the emotions of the people who once traversed these highways, and savor the leisurely charm of ancient Izu.
