The beauty of fatigue and the thrill of conquest

Discover the exceptional alpine environment of Valais with your gravel bike, from the vineyards to the mountain pastures, including the forests.

This route is made for sportsmen and women who wish to take up an alpine challenge on almost 2500mD+ and 115km. It is on the paved streets of Sion, capital of the Valais, that the participants take the start. A last look at the castles of Valère and Tourbillon before setting off on the banks of the Rhône accompanied by the lapping of the water. At the exit of the city, the cyclists take the small roads between fruit trees and vineyards on the left bank of the Rhône, passing through the communes of Grône, Chalais and Chippis, and its famous Bicycle Museum. It is between Réchy and the Arche des Crétillons in the commune of Chalais that the first timed sprint is launched (2km - 100mD+). After riding along the Géronde Lake in Sierre, it is the entrance to the Finges Natural Park. A beautiful gravel road along the Rhone leads to the wine village of Salquenen. The opportunity to discover the gastronomic treasures of the region is offered at the first refreshment stop in the heart of 200 hectares of vineyards.

After a short break, the participant take the direction of Varen and Leukerbad. This is where the second timed sector is started (9km - 530mD+). The cyclist passes along the south-facing ascent within a few meters of the famous satellite antennas. Then, it is the turn of the passage of the mythical Forest of Finges. After a short portage of 300 meters and a quality gravel surface, the timing stops at the peaceful village of Albinen and its breathtaking view over the valley.

Another short portage of 100m and it is time to go down to the famous spa resort of Leukerbad with its 65 thermal springs, whose water temperature can reach 51 degrees Celsius. Here, the opportunity to refuel copiously on the charming village square is offered to the participant.

After regaining their strength, it is at the foot of the Gemmi and its vertiginous walls, on an ancient Roman road, that the participants drive in the direction of the Alpine pasture of Larchi, where the third timed section (5km - 200mD+) begins until the highest point of the race at 1'530m.

Then, the participants leave the altitudes for good and start the tortuous descent from Rumeling in the direction of Varen to reach once again the supply station of Salquenen.

After this third tasteful stop, the cyclist take the road of Valais Romand in the direction of the brand new commune of Noble-Contrée, with the 4th and last timed sector (8km - 220mD+) on the winding vineyard roads of the village of Miège. After 90 km of racing, it is the time for the last refreshment station in the charming village of Venthône and its Château built at the end of the 12th century and classified as a historical monument in 1910.

Finally, after passing through the villages of Loc and Corin, the participants return to the plain and let themselves be guided by the Rhone River to the heart of the city of Sion on the historic Place de la Planta, where a friendly and festive atmosphere gathers the participants around an open air Pasta Party.
