Eroica Japan Event Regulations
General Provisions
・These regulations establish the agreements that must be adhered to by the event organizers and participants in the implementation of "Eroica Japan," as well as details regarding the event.
・Eroica Japan will hereinafter be referred to as "the Event."
・The organizers of Eroica Japan, including the organizing staff and volunteers, will be referred to as "the Organizers."
・Participants in the Event will be referred to as "Participants."
・The official website of Eroica Japan, "https://eroica.ccn," will be referred to as "the Official Website."
・These regulations and the notices, important matters, and commitments set by the Organizers will be referred to as "the Regulations."
1. Event Overview
・Event Name: Eroica Japan

2. Eroica Japan Ride
The cycling event that starts and ends at Eroica Village, conducted in compliance with traffic regulations, is collectively referred to as "Eroica Japan Ride" and abbreviated as "the Ride." The rides held during Eroica Japan are as follows:
・April 12: "MAPEI Friendly Ride"
Bicycle eligibility: All types of bicycles, including the latest models and electric bicycles.
・April 13: "Eroica Classic Ride"
Bicycle eligibility: Bici Eroica bicycles as defined in Section 12.4.
・3. Ciao Izu Peninsula
The events held at Eroica Village during the event period are collectively referred to as "Ciao Izu Peninsula." Each event held during Ciao Izu Peninsula will be abbreviated as "Event" or "Each Event." The following events are scheduled:
・Ciao Izu Peninsula Food Court: A food court selling specialty dishes and products from the Izu Peninsula.
・Ciao Izu Peninsula Cycle Exhibition: Exhibitions and sales of bicycles and related products by bicycle-related businesses and local government.
・Eroica Marche: A flea market selling bicycles, bicycle parts, related goods, and local products.
・Eroica Seminar: A talk show aimed at providing bicycle information and promoting bicycle use.
・Concorso di Eleganza: A contest to evaluate the aesthetics of vintage bicycles.
・Eroica Japan Pre-Event Dinner: A dinner for participant交流 on the eve of April 12.
・4. Entry to Eroica Japan・
Applying to participate in Eroica Japan is referred to as "Entry." The Entry period, methods, and payment methods will be announced on the Official Website.
・Entry Period: January 8, 2025 (Wednesday) 00:00 – March 26, 2025 (Wednesday) 00:00
・Entry Method: Participants must access the following URL, register for "MY EROICA," and select their desired ride within MY EROICA for Eroica Japan "Eroica Japan Ride."

・5. Entry Fees for Eroica Japan Ride・
The entry fee includes a bicycle number, race bib, stamp card (route map), insurance, food expenses at the RS, *event memorabilia, and *completion awards. The stamp card (route map) will hereinafter be referred to as "the Stamp Card."
*Items marked with an asterisk are distributed only to participants of the Eroica Classic Ride.
・6. Participation Contract for the Event・
Once a participant applies for the Event through the application method set on the Official Website and completes the specified payment, the participant is deemed to have entered into a participation contract with the Organizers. At the same time, the participant is considered to have understood and accepted these regulations.
・7. Check-in and Bicycle Inspection・
7.1 Race Kit
The bicycle number, race bib, and stamp card necessary for participants in the Eroica Japan Ride are collectively referred to as the "Race Kit." Receiving the Race Kit at Eroica Village is referred to as "Check-in."
7.2 Check-in
Participants must check in at the designated check-in counter at Eroica Village during the specified hours. The specified hours will be displayed on the Official Website.
7.3 Required Documents for Check-in
When receiving the Race Kit, participants must present the following three documents at the Eroica Japan headquarters. However, those who complete E-check as specified in Section 9 are exempt from presenting (ii) and (iii).
(i) Identification
(ii) Bicycle insurance certificate or proof of enrollment
*Participants who complete E-check as specified in Section 9 are exempt.
(iii) Bicycle inspection sheet designated by the Eroica Japan E-check site
*Participants who complete E-check as specified in Section 9 are exempt.
7.4 Bicycle Number and Bib Number
The bicycle number and bib number (hereinafter collectively referred to as "the Bib Number") are unique to each participant. The Organizers will use this number to manage the ride and award completion prizes. Participants may not replicate, exchange, or transfer their bib number.
7.5 Display of Bib Number
Participants must display their Bib Number visibly on their clothing and specified locations on their bicycles during the ride. The Organizers will not bear any responsibility for any disadvantage suffered by participants who do not clearly display their bib number during the ride.
7.6 Advance Notification of Bib Number
The Organizers will not provide advance notification of bib numbers. Additionally, they will not respond to inquiries from participants regarding bib numbers.

April 12, 2025, 06:00 – until departure time
・Check-in hours for Eroica Classic Ride:
April 11, 2025, 13:00 – 18:00
April 12, 2025, 06:00 – 22:00
No check-ins will be accepted on April 13.
Advance check-in via mail will be announced on the Official Website later.
Various information will be updated on the Official Website, and the information provided there will take precedence.
・9. Pre-check-in ・E-check・
9.1 E-check
Online pre-check-in is referred to as E-check.
9.2 E-check Page
Participants wishing to be exempt from presenting items (ii) and (iii) in Section 7.3 may complete E-check on the following page after March 15:

*This webpage is scheduled to be made public on March 20.
9.3 Overview of E-check
The E-check acceptance period will be from February 18, 00:00 to April 9, 16:00. Participants must access the above site during the acceptance period, complete the required documents, and submit the E-check form or send the required information by fax or other means to complete the E-check. No notification of bib numbers will be provided after E-check is completed.
・Benefits: Participants who complete E-check will be exempt from presenting their bicycle insurance certificate and inspection sheet at check-in.
・10. Check-in Outside of Specified Hours・
In principle, check-in outside of the specified hours will not be accepted. However, for special reasons such as accidents or transport delays, participants may contact the secretariat and discuss appropriate measures.
11 Bicycle Inspection Sheet and Bicycle Insurance Certificate at Check-in
11.1 Bicycle Inspection and Inspection Sheet
Participants must conduct a safety check of their bicycles at their own responsibility before participating in this event. This is referred to as "Bicycle inspection." The bicycle safety checklist used for the inspection is referred to as the "inspection sheet."
11.2 Bicycle Insurance Certificate (Including Personal Liability Insurance)
The certificate number or enrollment number of the bicycle insurance (including personal liability insurance) that participants are required to have is referred to as the "bicycle insurance certificate."
11.3 Required Documents
The inspection sheet and bicycle insurance certificate are referred to as the "required documents."
11.4 Presentation of Required Documents During Check-in
Participants must present the specified required documents to the organizer at check-in; however, participants who have completed the E-check in section 9 are exempt from this requirement. The following are three methods for presenting the required documents:
1. E-check Method
Participants must conduct a Bicycle inspection according to the inspection sheet designated for E-checks at the nearest bicycle shop or by themselves. They should create an inspection sheet signed by the inspector and submit the inspector's name and information regarding the bicycle insurance certificate online via E-check. Participants must keep these required documents during the event, but they are not required to present them at check-in.
2. Without E-check
Participants must conduct a Bicycle inspection according to the inspection sheet designated for E-checks at the nearest bicycle shop or by themselves. They should create an inspection sheet signed by the inspector and present it along with the bicycle insurance certificate at check-in.
3. If Lacking Inspection Sheet and Bicycle Insurance Certificate
Participants can request the creation of an inspection sheet from a designated bicycle maintenance provider within Eroica Village during the check-in period by paying 4,400 yen. Participants are required to prepare their own bicycle insurance certificate.
*Note: The organizer does not sell bicycle insurance.*
12. General Ride Regulations
12.1 Eroica Spirit
This event embodies the spirit of Eroica (Hero), emphasizing the importance of participants overcoming challenges through their own efforts. Respecting this spirit is essential for all participants.
12.2 Eligibility for Eroica Japan Ride Participants
The following nine criteria define eligibility for participants in the Eroica Japan Ride:
1. Adherence to the Eroica spirit.
2. Possessing the physical strength and experience to safely complete the selected routes.
3. Ability to independently handle punctures and other mechanical issues.
4. Compliance with laws and traffic regulations, and following the instructions of the event staff.
5. Wearing a helmet while cycling.
6. Not competing for ranking or times during the event.
7. Riding safely and being considerate of other traffic.
8. Being at least 12 years old.
*However, junior high school students must be accompanied by a guardian or chaperone.*
9. Being enrolled in bicycle insurance (including personal liability insurance).
12.3 Violations and Disqualification
Participants who commit the following actions may be disqualified from the event and may be banned from future events:
1. Deviating from the designated route or obtaining checkpoint stamps fraudulently through another person, thus falsifying completion.
2. Using another person's bib number or a duplicated bib number.
3. Engaging in abusive language, intimidation, defamation, illegal activities, or actions contrary to public order.
12.4 Bicycle Regulations for Eroica Japan Classic Ride
Only "Bici Eroica" bicycles are permitted for the Eroica Japan Classic Ride. These must be bicycles developed and established with mechanisms before 1987, and compliant with Japanese road traffic laws. The type of bicycle is not restricted, but the number of spokes must comply with the following:
1. **Gears:** Must use mechanisms developed before 1987.
Examples: Gambio Corsa, Margherita, etc., are acceptable.
Current Yoshigai W-shift levers are also acceptable.
2. **Pedals:** Must use pedals with toe clips and toe straps, except for the Cinelli M71 and Campagnolo SGR pedals, which are permitted. Other mechanisms (e.g., clipless pedals) are not allowed.
3. **Brakes:** Must use brake mechanisms developed before 1987. Aero brakes developed before 1987 are also acceptable.
Examples: Current Dia Compe single pivot brakes/Shimano AX/EX/Some Suntour products are acceptable.
A Shimano 1971 disc brake-equipped Junior Sport is acceptable.
4. **Wheels:** Generally must have more than 32 spoke holes, with size not restricted, and must be made from materials other than carbon. However, rims developed before 1987 with 32 holes or fewer are acceptable.
Example: 20-inch wheels are acceptable. Mavic SSC or FIAME red label with 28 holes are acceptable.
5. **Gear Ratio/Sprocket Teeth:** No restrictions.
Example: Front 39 - Rear 28, if deemed safe during inspections, is acceptable.
6. **Compliance with Road Traffic Laws.**
Example: Fixed-gear bicycles are not acceptable.
12.5 Bicycle Regulations for Eroica Japan MAPEI Friend Ride
Any bicycle compliant with road traffic laws is eligible to participate in the Eroica Japan MAPEI Friend Ride.
Example: Latest models with disc brakes or electric bicycles are acceptable. Fixed-gear bicycles are not acceptable.
12.6 Routes
Routes will be publicly available as follows:

12.7 Route Navigation
Participants must follow the route signs installed along the route after the start, completing the designated checkpoints (CP) and collecting the required number of stamps on their stamp cards to finish the ride. Participants must adhere to traffic laws and must not engage in timing or ranking competitions. The routes will be displayed on the official website.
12.8 Route Changes
Participants may only change their route before the ride begins due to health reasons by notifying the headquarters.
*Route extensions are not permitted.*
Participants will be considered to have accepted that they may not receive food provisions at the RS due to the route change. The organizers assume no responsibility for any disadvantages arising from route changes.
12.9 Route Briefing
Organizers will conduct briefings on the content of each route and points of caution during riding at the Eroica Village. The schedule will be announced on the official website.
12.10 Meeting Time for Each Ride
Meeting time for each ride is set for 15 minutes before the start time, which will be displayed on the official website.
12.11 Late Arrivals
Participants who arrive late to the start time will not be recognized as finishers, and no refunds will be issued in such cases.
12.12 Finishers
Participants who collect all the designated stamps from the checkpoints on their stamp card and reach the goal will be recognized as finishers.
12.13 Finisher Awards
Finisher awards will be presented to participants who complete the Eroica Classic Ride.
12.14 No Issuance of Finisher Certificates
No finisher certificates will be issued.
12.15 Troubles during the Ride
In the event of a fall, mechanical failure, or accident during the ride, participants must promptly contact emergency services (119 or 110) at their discretion and ensure the safety of themselves and any injured parties.
12.16 After Trouble Occurs
After making such notifications or deciding that no notification is necessary, participants should, if possible, contact the organizers via the official LINE or phone, with contact information available on the official website.
12.17 Rest Stops
Each spherical point established during the ride will be collectively referred to as Rest Stops (RS). The organizers will provide participants with food and drink at RS, as well as chargeable repairs for broken bicycles and first aid for the injured. However, no medical treatment will be provided. Participants may use the designated RS during operational hours. The operating hours will be displayed on the official website.
12.18 Final RS
The final RS for each route will be "MAPEI Rarara Sun Beach." Participants who do not obtain a CP stamp at the final RS after its closing time will be deemed to have retired, while other participants may continue the ride as per the provisions in Section 12.22. The closing time for "MAPEI Rarara Sun Beach" will be indicated in Section 12.20.
12.19 Closing of RS, Route Closure, and Closing Times
Each RS will end operations at the specified closing time, and RS activities will not be conducted after the closure. Closing times for each RS will be displayed on the official website.
12.20 Route Closure Times
The Eroica Japan Ride will close routes at the final RS closing times on both April 12 and 13. The routes will close, and closure operations will begin.

12.21 Route Closure Operations
A route closure vehicle will collect retirees at the designated RS and transport them to Eroica Village, completing the organizers' responsibilities related to the Eroica Japan Ride. The organizers will assume no responsibility for any disadvantages incurred by participants due to RS closure or route closure. Information regarding the route closure vehicle will be displayed on the official website.
12.22 Handling of Participants Who Have Not Finished After Route Closure Times
Participants who have not finished after the route closure times and have obtained the final RS stamp will be recognized as finishers if they return to Eroica Village on their own during the event period. Other participants will be treated as retirees as per Section 12.23.
12.23 Retirement and Transport by Route Closure Vehicle
A participant who decides to discontinue the ride for any reason will be deemed to have "retired." The following outlines how retirees will be treated during the event:
- Participants may freely retire at any location at their discretion. Those who decide to do so will be referred to as "retirees."
- Retirees are not eligible for finisher awards.
- The organizers will not provide individual transport for retirees; transport will be carried out collectively by a single route closure vehicle that will return to Eroica Village via each RS.
- Transport for retirees will be from each RS to Eroica Village.
- Retirees may leave the route and return home freely, but if they wish to be transported to Eroica Village by the route closure vehicle, they must reach each RS on their own.
- Retirees may freely disembark from the route closure vehicle if it does not compromise the safety of the vehicle or its passengers, but the decision is at the discretion of the vehicle operator.
- Decisions regarding the transport of retirees' bicycles will be made by the route closure vehicle operator.
- The vehicle operator may forcibly remove retirees who interfere with the safe operation of the vehicle.
- The organizers will assume no responsibility for any disadvantages or damages incurred by retirees.
13. Cancellation or Modification of the Event
13.1 Cancellation of the Event
In the event of occurrences such as earthquakes, disasters, terrorism, or war, where participants may face potential danger, the organizers reserve the right to cancel, interrupt, or modify the event.

.2 Handling of Entry Fees
- In the event of cancellation, participants will not receive refunds for entry fees.
- If the event is postponed due to force majeure, the organizers may modify the ride to a new date or location.
- Participants who cannot attend on the rescheduled date will not be eligible for refunds.
14. Liability Disclaimer
14.1 Liability for Event Damage
- The organizers will not be liable for any damages incurred by participants during the event, including damages due to accidents, mechanical failures, or injuries.
- The organizers will not be liable for damages incurred by third parties.
14.2 Understanding of Risks
Participants understand that they must ride in compliance with road traffic laws and take responsibility for their own safety.
15. Code of Conduct
15.1 Conduct for Participants
Participants are expected to conduct themselves appropriately, avoiding rude behavior, harmful actions, or any conduct that may disturb other participants.
16. Personal Information
16.1 Handling of Personal Information
The organizers will properly manage participants' personal information and will not disclose it to third parties without consent, except as required by law.
17. Copyright
17.1 Ownership of Copyright
All copyrights and all other rights related to the content of this event and any advertisements using the content belong to the organizer.
17.2 Use of Copyright
Based on the usage permission for the event content obtained in advance from participants, the organizer may, at its discretion, utilize the content freely and without further consent from participants, either free of charge or otherwise, to reproduce, modify, delete, edit, distribute, create derivative works, and otherwise utilize the content by the organizer and third parties approved by the organizer.
18. Right of Portrait and Publicity Rights
If a participant enters into a participation application contract, they are deemed to have approved the conditions for the use and publication of content as stated in Section 17.2. Participants cannot demand the exercise of their portrait rights or publicity rights concerning the use of the content by the organizer or third parties approved by the organizer, regardless of the basis for such demand.
19. Prohibited Actions in the Venue
During the event, the sale of goods, business activities, advertising, solicitation, or any other acts for profit without the organizer's permission in the venue are prohibited.
20. Compensation
20.1 The organizer shall not be responsible for theft, damage, or any other loss of participants' property during the event.
20.2 In the event of an accident occurring during the event, the organizer will respond to the best of its ability, but fundamentally, the resolution shall be the responsibility and expense of the participant.
20.3 In the event a participant suffers injury or death during the event, compensation will be provided through the insurance contracted by the organizer for the event.
20.4 The content of the insurance for which participants are compensated will be displayed at the bottom of this page in Section 20.8.
20.5 The incidents or injuries eligible for compensation are limited to those related to the event. Illnesses are not covered.
20.6 The organizer shall not provide compensation beyond the coverage of the insurance specified in Section 20.3.
20.7 Compensation is limited to participants of the event.
21. Updates to the Terms
21.1 The terms may be changed due to changes in social conditions or legal regulations.
21.2 If any changes are made to the terms, the organizer will post the changes and the date of change on this page. Participants will be deemed to have acknowledged the latest terms.
21.3 If participants cannot agree to the revised terms, they must promptly notify the organizer and can cancel their registration. However, the organizer will not refund the entry fee. If participants continue to participate in the event after the terms have changed, they will be deemed to have agreed to the revised terms.
