NOVA EROICA ISTRIA is an amateur cycling event that takes place mainly on dirt roads with gravel, cyclocross or traditional road bikes.
All participants are required to carefully read the following rules before registering.
ARTICLE 1 – GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE EVENT
NOVA EROICA ISTRIA will take place on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September 2025 in Novigrad (Cittanova) – Croatia, Istria.
The cycling event includes:
• Saturday, 20 September 2025: 1 trip called “NOVA EROICA ISTRIA Ciclo Club Family Ride” open to families and minors;
• Sunday, 21 September 2025: 2 competitive routes with time trial tests and free-ride transfer sections, and 1 cycle touring route
Hereinunder, NOVA EROICA ISTRIA will also be referred to as the Event, the Demonstration and/or the Race. The NOVA EROICA ISTRIA Event is reserved solely for adult participants.
ARTICLE 2 – BICYCLES
NOVA EROICA ISTRIA is an amateur cycling event for gravel bicycles, but road and cyclocross bicycles with carbon, steel, titanium and aluminium frames are also permitted; mountain bikes and pedal assist electric bicycles are prohibited.
Bicycles must have racing handlebars.
To be defined as such, gravel bicycles must have at least 32 mm tyres and disc brakes on the front and rear wheels.
ARTICLE 2.1 - Definition of Gravel Bicycle
The frame of a gravel bicycle is derived from a cyclocross frame, already defined by the UCI in detail. The differences between a CX frame and a gravel bike are:
• Bottom bracket shell height 27.5/28 mm
• Head tube 1.5-3 cm higher than usual
• Head tube angle greater than 70°
• Rear stays and fork clearance wide enough to accommodate wheels up to 50 (average wheel size used 700x32/40 or 560bx40)
• 140/160 mm disc brakes
• Internal cable routing
• Steel/carbon in some cases aluminum frames are acceptable
• 1x or 2x groupset (type Ekar Campagnolo or GRX Shimano or Force Sram)
• Curved handlebar
ARTICLE 3 – ROUTES AND STARTING TIMES
NOVA Eroica includes 3 routes:
• Long “Truffles Route" - 150 km - COMPETITIVE
• Medium “Teran Route” - 100 km - COMPETITIVE
• Short - “Malvasia Route" - 60 km - CYCLE TOURING
The competitive routes include free-ride transfers and time trial tests, while the cycle touring route is completely free-ride.
Each participant may choose the route that best suits them and the choice must be indicated at the time of registration. It is possible to change the type of route until 10 September 2025 without any penalty, as long as changes are between routes that require the same type of medical certificate.
The Organizer may limit or condition the change of route for technical and/or safety reasons.
The routes will be marked with arrows, but everyone is expected to rely on the GPS tracks and timetables available at the following (LINK).
The Organizer will guarantee the presence of a Start of the Race and a Finish of the Race vehicle, which will drive along the routes.
The starting times will take place as follows:
• Long “Truffles Route” - 150 km – Sunday, 21 September 2025 at 8:00 am
• Medium “Teran Route” - 100 km – Sunday, 21 September 2025 at 8:00 am
• Short “Malvasia Route” - 60 km – Sunday, 21 September 2025 at 8:00 am
ARTICLE 3.1 REQUIRED FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE EVENT
The Organizer:
• GUARANTEES several refreshment points (see Article 17 as per indicated times);
• PRESCRIBES the use of a front and rear light at the start;
• PRESCRIBES having the travel booklet for control stamps on one's person;
• PRESCRIBES the use of the chip attached to the bicycle provided in the technical envelope;
• RECOMMENDS the repair kit; the official refreshment points will be equipped with a Bike Workshop Box, to be used independently, without guaranteeing the availability of spare parts and any type of tool;
• RECOMMENDS taking energy foods for the ride;
ARTICLE 4 - STARTING ORDER
The race includes 3 starting grids:
- GROUP “A”
• Ciclo Club Eroica
• Guests
- GROUP “B”
• Gravel bicycles
- GROUP “C”
• Road bicycles
• Cyclocross bicycles
ARTICLE 5 – MEDICAL CERTIFICATE
It is MANDATORY for all participants to present a valid MEDICAL CERTIFICATE to the Organizer.
The medical certificate required depends on the type of route chosen:
Participation in the 150 km and 100 km events, which are competitive routes requiring high psychophysical effort, is subject to the regular possession of the following requirement:
• for participants of Croatian residence: mandatory certificate of fitness for competitive cycling
• for participants of foreign residence: valid certificate of fitness for participation in competitive cycling races issued by a qualified doctor from their country of residence.
Participation in the 60 km event ('Malvasia Route'), which is a non-competitive route requiring low psychophysical effort, is subject to the regular possession of the following requirement:
• for participants of Croatian residence: certificate of fitness for non-competitive cycling or fitness for the practice of sports activities requiring a particular and high cardiovascular effort.
• for participants of foreign residence: certificate of fitness for non-competitive cycling or fitness for the practice of sports activities requiring a particular and high cardiovascular effort or equivalent issued by a qualified doctor from their country of residence
• for foreign athletes who are 70 years of age or older (calendar age), the certificate of fitness for competitive cycling is mandatory
• for LAST MINUTE REGISTRATIONS, the medical certificate must be presented when collecting the technical envelope, accompanied by a valid identity document.
Those who fail to comply with this requirement will not be considered properly registered and will not be entitled to a refund of the registration fee.
ARTICLE 6 - REGISTRATION METHODS AND FEES
Registrations can be purchased directly on the myeroica.cc event platform.
Each participant must register on the platform by using their own email address and choosing a password. The email address acts as a user ID; the same email address cannot be used by 2 or more people.
Only individual registrations are possible. Sports teams wishing to register the entire team by using a single account must contact the Organisation at [email protected].
Each participant must be registered on the Myeroica platform.
Registrations will open at 09:00 am on March 2025 (Rome time, CET) with the following fees and final dates:
CICLO CLUB EROICA registration, reserved for Ciclo Club Eroica members, at €50.00 starting from 28 February 2024 (the CCE personal start number will be guaranteed for registrations made by 30 April 2025).
• Standard registration open to all at €75.00, from 30 March 2025 until 31 May 2025
• Standard LATE registration open to all at €95.00, from 1 June 2025 until 18 September 2025
• LAST MINUTE registration on site at the Registration Office at €100.00, from 19 September 2025 until 21 September 2025 during the technical envelope distribution hours (see Article 7)
Your registration fee, regardless of the amount paid, will include:
• RACE PACK with gifts and souvenirs of the Event;
• RACE NUMBER to be attached to the jersey and the number for the bicycle;
• EROICA MAP with details of the routes and refreshment points;
• Several REFRESHMENT POINTS depending on the length of the route chosen;
• PRIZE at the finish line;
• MEAL at the end of the Event;
• SHOWERS at the finish line.
ARTICLE 7 - COLLECTION OF THE TECHNICAL ENVELOPE AND RACE PACKS
RACE PACKS and TECHNICAL ENVELOPES with RACE NUMBERS will be distributed at the pre-established points at the following times:
• Friday, 19 September 2025 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm;
• Saturday, 20 September 2025 from 10:00 am 7:00 pm;
• Sunday, 21 September 2025 from 7:00 am to 7:30 am; Race Pack collection will be possible until 5:00 pm on the same day
To collect the TECHNICAL ENVELOPE and the RACE PACK it will be necessary to present:
• a printout of the "MY EROICA" page showing the registration;
• valid identity document;
• MEDICAL CERTIFICATE FOR COMPETITVE CYCLING;
• the collection may be delegated to a friend or a trusted person by delivering the printout of the "MY EROICA page" duly completed and signed in original in the section dedicated to DELEGATION (LINK) in addition to the copy of the identity document of the delegating person and the copy of said person's competitive sports card.
For the collection of sport teams' Technical Envelopes and Race Packs, it is necessary to present a cumulative list containing individual participants' data.
ARTICLE 8 - SUBSTITUTIONS OR CANCELLATION OF PARTICIPATION
It is possible to request the substitution of a participant up to 30 days before the Event only if the registration is carried out in order with the rules. In order to complete the substitution, the new participant must register on “MY EROICA” and upload the requested documents (valid medical certificate).
An administration fee of €15.00 will be charged for this service.
If a registered participant is unable to participate in NOVA Eroica Istria, the pregistration fee will not be refunded and the race pack will not be sent.

The Organizer reserves the right to assess whether the requests received are prompted by an “objective impossibility to participate due to injury”, as documented by medical records. The medical documentation will be treated in compliance with current privacy laws.
In cases recognized by the Organizer, the participation fee alone will be considered valid for registration for the following year's Event upon payment of a €15.00 administration fee.
The registration held valid for the following year is personal and non-transferable to third parties and will only be valid for the year following the withdrawal. In the event of further non-participation, the fee will be considered forfeited.
ARTICLE 9 – TIMETABLE, TIMING and TRAVEL BOOKLET
The timetables of all the routes and checkpoints will be published at least 7 days before the Event.
At the beginning and end of each TIME TRIAL TEST, the individual time of each competitor will be recorded by using the special chip attached to the bicycle number, provided in the technical envelope. Those who miss even one TIME TRIAL TEST will not be included in the final ranking.
Non-compliance or refusal to undergo the required technical checks will result in immediate disqualification and the report thereof will be sent to the competent bodies.
Timing will be carried out according to the rules that will be communicated before the Event.
ARTICLE 10 – TEAM COMPOSITION, RANKINGS AND PRIZES
A team is defined as such if there is a minimum of 4 cyclists registered with the same sports club. A team may be composed of only men, only women or be mixed.
Teams with most cyclists finishing their respective routes within the time limit indicated on the timetable (Article 10) will be awarded prizes. In the case of the same number of cyclists finishing, the sum of the best times will be considered.

• 1st team: “NOVA Eroica ISTRIA Prize – Truffle Tour 2025”
• 2nd team “NOVA Eroica ISTRIA Prize – Truffle Tour 2025”
• 3rd team “NOVA Eroica ISTRIA Prize – Truffle Tour 2025”
The team with the largest number of participants in Nova Eroica Istria 2025 will also be awarded.
The award ceremony will take place at the end of the race in the Bike Village at 5:00 pm.
ARTICLE 11 - INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS AND PRIZES
The overall ranking will be determined by the sum of the individual times of timed sections.

UNCOLLECTED PRIZES WILL NOT BE PRESENTED TO THIRD PARTIES NOR WILL THEY BE SENT TO WINNERS' HOME ADDRESSES.
The Organizer reserves the right to modify the categories in accordance with new rules or needs.
All participants who finish NOVA Eroica ISTRIA will receive a commemorative medal of the Event at the finish line.
ARTICLE 12 – MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
A Shared Health Aid Plan approved by the Novigrad Operations Center is in place.
Ambulances and qualified doctors will be present during the Race.
The emergency number will be indicated in the Road Book.
ARTICLE 13 - CLOSURE AND ROUTE DIVERSIONS
The maximum time to complete the Race is set for 7:00 pm.
ARTICLE 14 – REFRESHMENT POINTS
There are two types of refreshment points along the routes:
• Official Eroica REFRESHMENT points (marked with an R on the EROICA MAP) providing drinks, sweet and savoury food in authentic Eroica style.
Please note that the REFRESHMENT is FREE.
ARTICLE 15 - COMPLAINTS AND INFORMATION

ARTICLE 16 - CANCELLATION OR POSTPONEMENT OF THE EVENT DATE
If, for reasons of force majeure, the Event is not held, the amount paid at the time of registration will not be refunded. Said registration fee will be considered valid for the next year Event. The Organizer is also entitled to a €15.00 administrative fee for postpoing the registration to the following year. The request to postpone the registration to the following year and the payment of the administrative fee must be made by the date indicated by the Organizer after the cancellation of the Event.
Furthermore, should the organisation of the Event or participation of over half of those registered be put at risk due to force majeure or other serious causes, the Organizer reserves the right to move the place and/or date of the Event within the same calendar year. In this case, the registration fee paid will be valid for the Event on the rescheduled date, without any additional costs for the registered participants. In this case, it is not possible to reschedule the registration for the next year's Event.
ARTICLE 17 - AMENDEMENTS
The Organizer reserves the right to amend the regulations at any time. The official website of the Event where these regulations are published is the only official source of information regarding the Event.
ARTICLE 18 - RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF PARTICIPANTS
Participants are obliged to affix the Race number provided by the Organizer to the back of the saddle and to their jerseys in a visible way. These numbers may not be modified or altered in any way.
It is mandatory to use a rigid helmet approved for cycling and keep it fastened for the entire duration of the Race. Cyclists are required to respect the rules of the road during the entire Race, even during timed sections.
ARTICLE 19 – DISQUALIFICATIONS
A 2-year disqualification will be applied in case of:
• unauthorized route deviations;
• abusive or offensive behaviour towards the organizing staff;
• lack of respect for the environment, such as littering in non-designated areas outside refreshment points and checkpoints.
We appeal to the civic sense of all participants to keep the areas along the route clean.
In serious cases of breach, such as taking participation with someone else's RACE NUMBER and the unauthorized transfer of one's registration, disqualification may be made for life at the sole discretion of the Organizer.
If any cyclist is disqualified during the course of the year, this may lead to their exclusion from the starting list at any moment and at the the sole discretion of the Organizer.
The use of bicycles equipped with any kind of engine or mechanical assistance is strictly forbidden, at risk of disqualification or exclusion.
ARTICLE 20 - APPROVAL, CONSENT, AUTHORIZATION, ETC.
By requesting to participate in NOVA Eroica ISTRIA in any of the ways provided hereinunder, each participant from the moment of registration:
• declares that they have read and accepted this Regulation in every part of it;
• guarantees their own good and responsible behaviour during and after the Event;
• declares that they are in good physical condition and that they have provided a valid medical certificate to the Organizer after having undergone a medical examination for competitive cycling or cyclotouring (as per Article 6), thus giving the Organizer the utmost leverage in the event of any damages resulting from their participation in the Event;
• gives consent to the use of their data, including for commercial purposes, as provided for by the Personal Data Protection Code no. 196 of 30 June 2003 and the European Union Regulation on privacy 2017/679 (GDPR/18).
• grants the Organizer the broadest consent to the use, in the ways permitted by law, including for profit, of any video or photographic image taken during the days of the Event, providing the Organizer with the right to transfer such images to third parties. Said authorisation, regarding the use of one’s own image, is to be considered permanent and without any territorial limits anywhere in the world. Images may be used in various publications and filmed material, including but not limited to promotional and/or advertising material produced on any medium. The Organizer may also transfer to third parties and to its institutional and commercial partners, the rights of use specified hereunder.
The Organizer waives any responsibility, either direct or on the part of its collaborators, for any accident or damage to people or property, that may arise before, during and after the Event or as a result of the same.
Furthermore, by sending the online registration form, the participant self-certifies the non-existence of sporting, civil and/or criminal sanctions, even if served, for facts related to doping and declares that he/she has not taken - and will not take - substances included in the anti-doping list of the World Antidoping Agency (WADA) http://list.wada-ama.org/prohibited-all-times/prohibited-substances/. False self-certification is punishable by law.
In the event of a positive result in the anti-doping tests carried out during NOVA Eroica ISTRIA, or of a positive result found in other sporting events in the 6 (six) months following the Event, the participant is required to pay NOVA EROICA, as compensation for the serious damage caused to the image of the Event, the amount of € 50,000.00 (fifty thousand euro/00).
The amount that will be collected by the Organisation, as compensation for the damage to the image, will be entirely donated to youth sports activities.
