Eroica Japan will hold its annual Concorso Eleganza (bicycle competition) on April 12, 2025 (Saturday) at Eroica Village. This is a beautiful competition showcasing the craftsmanship and historical value of handmade bicycles, which is one of the highlights of Eroica. The judging will be carried out by the Eroica bike jury team led by Atsushi Matsumoto, a leading authority in Japanese bicycle culture. Special prizes will be awarded by Eroica Japan. We invite you to proudly present your beloved bicycle to fellow Eroica fans.

  • Location: Eroica Village, in front of the main office (tentative)
  • Time: 08:00 ~ 14:30
    ※ Judging will begin at 12:00. Please bring your bicycle to the display area early.
  • Result Announcement: April 12, 18:00 ~
  • Participation Fee: 3,000 yen per bicycle. Multiple bicycles may be entered.
  • Entry Method: Please register through My Eroica or the entry form at the bottom of this page.
  • Items to prepare on the day:
    ・Bicycle stand (There will be no stand rental on-site)
    ・A description of the bicycle's history (No specific form required)
  • Competition Classes
    ・Class 1: Bicycles manufactured before 1959 (Country of origin does not matter)
    ・Class 2: Bicycles manufactured from 1960 to before 1987 (Country of origin does not matter)
    ・Class 3: Bicycles manufactured after 1987 (Country of origin does not matter, Ergopower/STI equipped bikes are also allowed)
    ・Class 4: Restored bicycles of all ages (Country of origin does not matter)
    ・Class 5: Display only (Not subject to judging)

    ● Eligible Bicycles for Each Class


  1.  Class 1-3 Original Bicycles
    1.1. Only original bicycles are eligible for these classes.
    ※ Bicycles that have been partially restored should be entered in Class 4.
    ※ If a bicycle is determined to be restored during the judging, it will be moved to Class 4, so please be careful.
    1.2. Bicycles must be in original condition, but safety-related consumables (tires, tubes, brake pads, brake hoods, bar tape, various wires, chains, bearings) may be replaced. However, non-original brake outers will be penalized.

  2. Class 4 Restored Bicycles
    Eligible bicycles are those that have undergone restoration, such as paintwork or chrome repair (Country of origin does not matter).
    ※ Partial repairs will also result in entry to Class 4.
    ※ Bicycles from other classes that are determined to have been restored during the judging process will also be moved to Class 4, so please be careful.

  3. Class 5 Display Only (Not Subject to Judging)
    Bicycles with historically or artistically valuable frames, made by craftsmen or artists, can be displayed. Frames made of bamboo, wood, or other materials are eligible for display.

● Participation Rules

・Bicycles for promotional purposes cannot be displayed.
・Bicycles must be rideable and have air in the tubes.
・The frame must be original, and except for Class 3 and 5, must comply with the Eroica bicycle regulations.
・Bicycles that do not meet these conditions will not be allowed to participate.
・Under no circumstances will participation fees be refunded.
・Eligibility for participation and competition results will be determined by the jury's strict judgment.
・No objections to the results will be accepted.
・While the event area will be properly managed, the organizers will not be responsible for any damage, theft, or loss of bicycles during the competition.
