The beauty of fatigue and the thrill of conquest

ROAD TO EROICA: Borga Cycle Team EnergyUp on an Heroic Journey to Montalcino

From Varese to Montalcino: 550 km of passion, commitment, and heroic spirit

Once again, for the IX edition of Eroica Montalcino, the special project Road to Eroica returns — an initiative that blends cycling, personal growth, and passion, powered by the Borga Cycle Team EnergyUp. This 550-kilometer bike journey will take a group of Under-23 cyclists from Varese to Montalcino, crossing Italy in four stages marked by dedication, integrity, and the most authentic sporting spirit.

A journey beyond sport

For the Borga Cycle Team EnergyUp, this is no ordinary training session. It’s a meaningful journey that brings to the forefront the essential values of cycling — past, present, and future. Their message is clear: NO DOPING, just passion, dedication, and heart.

Every kilometer is an opportunity to grow — as athletes and as people. Every stop is a moment of sharing with the local communities along the way. Every climb becomes a metaphor for the kind of effort that shapes and teaches, giving purpose to the road ahead.

The Road to Eroica Stages

  •  Wednesday, May 21 – Varese → Piacenza (150 km).
  •  Thursday, May 22 – Piacenza → Bologna (150 km)
  •  Friday, May 23 – Bologna → Florence (150 km)
  •  Saturday, May 24 – Florence → Montalcino (100 km)

On Sunday, May 25, the team will take part in Eroica Montalcino, riding the Percorso Eroico (153 km) — the longest, toughest, and most epic course of the event. They’ll ride across the white roads of the Val d’Orcia with the strength of those who have already covered hundreds of kilometers, driven by the noblest motivation: to live and honor heroic cycling in its purest form.

A generation that truly rides

The Borga Cycle Team EnergyUp represents a new generation of cyclists — one that rejects shortcuts and chooses authenticity. These young riders are shaped by their time in the saddle, proving day after day that the real challenge is to be heroic in life, not just on a bike.
