Der Zauber der Erschöpfung und die Lust am Wagnis

From the Tour de France Trophy of 1948 to the Victorious Italians in Yellow

In the year when the Tour de France starts from Italy, specifically from Florence, a synergy has been established between the Eroica and the Gino Bartali Cycling Museum. The Museum, already located in Gaiole, possesses the trophy of the Tour de France won by Gino Bartali in 1948. Concurrently with Eroica Montalcino, it will be possible to see the trophy of the Grand Départ at the Teatro degli Astrusi.

This combination has led to the creation of an event, which can be described as a journey into the history in yellow. The 1948 trophy, besides representing the Italian victory, carries with it a previous heritage, bearing the names of the winners of the preceding years, Apo Lazarides and Jean Robic, but only the latter is listed as the winner of the 1947 Tour de France. Why Lazarides in 1946 then? You will discover this on Saturday morning by listening to the stories of the seven Italian winners of the Grand Boucle.
